from achievement to purpose
Gene Lee followed the expected path laid out by society and his immigrant parents, progressing from model minority overachiever to finding his authentic voice as an empathetic, purpose-driven leader at Nike. From launching FuelBand and Nike's running and training apps to leading global product strategy, he championed cultural authenticity across international markets while scaling their direct e-commerce business from $250M to $12B.
His journey began in suburban Houston, where he learned to transform the complexity of being "between cultures" into a leadership superpower.
Through personal stories of microaggressions, achievement-driven burnout, and eventual self-discovery, Gene shares how embracing his third culture identity became the foundation of authentic leadership. His work at Nike, ensuring every market's unique cultural voice was heard and respected, became a powerful extension of his journey toward authenticity.
Today, Gene dedicates himself to being the representation he never had, coaching corporate overachievers and creative culturalists to find their true purpose. Drawing from his experience navigating cultural complexity and breaking through traditional barriers, he helps others transform their diverse perspectives into professional strength. Through coaching, he guides individuals and teams to move beyond surface-level achievement to discover deeper purpose, empowering them to manifest their futures and own their careers with confidence and authenticity.
